During the 18th edition of the Balkan Taekwondo Championships, held in Dupnitsa city of Bulgaria, between the 24th and 25th of September 2016, the European Taekwondo Union, represented by Mr. Apostol Constantin as Deputy Secretary General, has established efforts towards giving hope to some of the less fortunate participants of the Balkan Championships through the ETU Humanitarian Foundation.
These efforts are being held under the patronage of Mr. President Sakis Pragalos of the European Taekwondo Union and are currently represented with goods such as shirts, caps, school bags, pencils and other items for children between the ages of 10 and 12.
The particular program presented at the Balkan Taekwondo Championships under the ETU Humaniatarian Foundation sigil is named „Back to school 2016” and we believe it is a step forward in connecting sports with education with the purpose of providing more chances to the next generation of competitors to build themselves up better and ultimately achieve the goal which stands as our motto: „Serving life through sport”.
We hope that our activity will inspire others as we have been inspired by Mr. President Chungwon Choue and his earlier efforts in the humanitarian field. We also hope that our program will become shared by all of our Taekwondo WTF members and that, hand in hand, we will be able to work toward promoting better charity activities around the world.
said Mr. Apostol for the BTU Report.
